When it comes to brewing beer as we all commonly know it, there are three major ingredients required to complete the process. Hops are used as a flavoring aspect, yeast is added to convert the fermentable sugars into alcohol, but barley is the key ingredient from which the sugars are obtained. As the fourth largest produced cereal grain crop in the world, barley predominantly serves its purpose as a major animal feed, but it is often used in foods of a healthy nutritional value, and is also the root ingredient in the manufacture of beer. There are two common types available of the grain suitable for brewing, which are known as two-row and six-row barley.

Thanks to my beer brother, Bob, for this:

"you can bid again at a lower amount (whatever the next incremental bid is) and fix it yaknow :-)"

I'll try to remember that the next time I get drunk and start blind bidding. ;)

1. Finally got my chest freezer (a 205L beauty of a beast) and Willhi WH7016C temperature controllers.
2. Have been mocked, ridiculed, and otherwise verbally abused by my beer brethren for thinking I could get away with brewing so many lager beers in such little time.
3. Because of having been mocked, ridiculed, and otherwise verbally abused by my beer brethren, I've revised my brew schedule to allow for...well, reality.

Here it is:
26 December: Munich Helles (x2 9L)
27 December: Märzen/Oktoberfest (x2 9L)
# December: Maibock/Hellesbock (12L) <- only if it fits in the fridge with the other four fermentors. Probably won't. Oh well.
