Magic and beer! And cats, too. But ABREWCATABREW just didn’t sound right.

Welcome to my blog chronicalling my exploits in homebrewing and magic. I hope you enjoy what you find, and maybe discover something useful along the way. I update this page regularly, so make sure to check back from time to time.

“What’s with the groovy name?”
In addition to my love of all-coholic libations, I’m also a magician of 20+ years who’s obsessed with playing cards and poetic word play. I can’t think of a better word to describe me than ABREWCADABREW. Contact me if you ever want to talk shop.

“Cats?”
Yes, two: Kafka and Eska. You can see them at my Facebook account.

“Magic?”
Aye. Mostly playing cards and mentalism, but I’ve been known to dabble in the black arts, too. Wanna see a magic trick? Gimme your beer.

“Are you really an abbot?”
Ordained 11 May, 2011. Marriages, funerals and burials, baptisms, as well as Trappist beers!

“How much beer do you brew?”
I brew 2-3 times a month, 10-25 liters a batch. My gear consists of two 28L stainless steel brewing pots; a 45L mash tun; various fermentors (10-22L); and two 25L bottling buckets that double as hot water tank/lauter tuns. My beers are bottle conditioned (kegging gear is next!), and I use BeerSmith 2 to manage my inventory and recipes.

“What are your favourite beers?”
Ooh, tough question, too many answers. If you mean to drink, there’s: Newcastle Brown Ale, Young’s Special, Belhaven Wee Heavy, and Baird Beer’s Yabai-Yabai Strong Scotch Ale. If you mean to make, click here to see what what’s brewing!

If you’ve got a question you’d like me to answer, just ask!
